PET Development and Production Radiochemist
Posted: February 2, 2022

Overview: Established in 2016, the Brain Imaging Centre (BIC) at The Royal Ottawa Hospital supports researchers with a focus on mental illness. Researchers from the Institute of Mental Health Research (IMHR) and other institutions across the city use our dual modality PET/MRI scanner to conduct ground-breaking research.

Access to PET radiopharmaceuticals occurs via a close partnership with the PET Radiochemistry facilities at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute (located within walking distance of The Royal). Traditionally this facility has provided PET radiopharmaceuticals focused on cardiac applications.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in the implementation and development of PET tracers specific to neuroscience applications as we grow our PET neuroimaging program. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for supervising and participating in routine production of PET tracers for use at the BIC.

If desired by the incumbent, this position can allow for development of an independent neuroscience PET research program with a focus on mental health. The successful candidate will report to the BIC Manager and work closely with the PET Radiochemistry Steering Committee and members of the Heart Institute Radiochemistry program.
